SMI Spec!

Вот об этом и поговорим:

  • что включает в себя SMI Spec;
  • почему все хотят сито и хотят его сейчас;
  • как сито помогает нам с прогрессивной доставкой;
  • как понять, нужно ли сито вашей системе и лично вам.

Director of Engineering, Nimble CRM, Ukraine

DevOps Stage Webinar seriesMykhailo Korbakov started his career in 2003 as a researcher in academic Space Research Institute.

After spending five years working on satellite imagery processing, numerical weather prediction, and wiring it into the network of distributed services he decided to move into more business-oriented domains and moved to commercial software development where continued working on data warehouses and machine learning models for various applications.

A few years later he accepted an offer for the position of Software Architect in fresh company Nimble CRM targeting to disrupt CRM market. He is spending the last 8 years in that company, now at the position of the Director of Engineering.

That long exposure gives a good oversight of how various technical decisions affect business in the long run, both in good and bad ways.

The IT Paradigmologist / Global Ambassador, Smalley.IT / DevOps Agile Skills Association, Netherlands

DevOps Stage Webinar seriesMark Smalley, also known as The IT Paradigmologist, thinks, writes and speaks extensively about IT ‘paradigms’ – in other words our changing perspectives on IT.

His current interests are the digital enterprise, IT operating models, value of IT, business-IT relationships, co-creation of value, multidisciplinary collaboration, working with complexity, and as the overarching theme, management of information systems in general.

People collaborate with Mark to discover where they are and to visualize where they want to be. Mark is an IT Management Consultant at Smalley.IT and Delivery Partner for GamingWorks’ The Phoenix Project DevOps business simulation.

He is Global Ambassador at the DevOps Agile Skills Association (DASA). He is a contributor to bodies of knowledge such as ASL, BiSL, BRM, COBIT, DevOps, IT4IT, ITIL, and VeriSM.

Mark has lectured at various universities and has spoken at hundreds of events in more than twenty countries.

Just as many people say that the DevOps engineer is just a figment of the HR department’s hyped-up imagination, there is also resistance to the concept of a DevOps team. Surely DevOps is about breaking down silos, not creating new ones!

Yet in corporate reality, DevOps teams exist alongside product-based Agile development teams and platform-oriented infrastructure and operations (I&O) teams. Alongside more overarching teams such as security and architecture. Alongside supporting teams such as the service desk. This can be a temporary construct while DevOps capabilities are being developed, team by team. But it can also be a more permanent division of labour.

The elephant in the room that people seem to be avoiding, is the question how to split the tasks across teams. For example, should the service desk only take on tier 1 requests and pass on more difficult requests to the product team? Or should they be trained to deal with other requests? Similarly, how are platform-related tasks divided between DevOps teams and I&O teams? We forgot about SRE teams: how do they fit in?

This webinar explores the interfaces between these kinds of teams, offering some guiding principles to think about.

– Better understanding of the whole ‘ecosystem’ in which DevOps teams operate
– Principles for organisational design of the interfaces between teams
– Measures to improve collaboration between teams

Principal Technical Evangelist, Amazon Web Services, Israel

DevOps Stage Webinar seriesI’m a Principal Technical Evangelist at Amazon Web Services. Helping to raise customer awareness of AWS services and, in particular, helps customers understand the benefits that the AWS Cloud can deliver. How can you accelerate the delivery of new, high-quality services? How can you be able to experiment and get feedback quickly from your customers? To get the most out of the agility afforded by serverless and containers, it is essential to build CI/CD pipelines that help teams iterate on code and quickly release features. In this talk, we demonstrate how developers can build effective CI/CD release workflows to manage their serverless or containerized deployments on AWS. We cover infrastructure-as-code (IaC) application models, such as AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM) and new imperative IaC tools. We also demonstrate how to set up CI/CD release pipelines with AWS CodePipeline and AWS CodeBuild, and we show you how to automate safer deployments with AWS CodeDeploy.
